Creation of new track intended for undergraduate students in material sciences, electronics,
and energy engineering
Training of immediately deployable human resources

Dankook University has started training immediately deployable human resources in the energy field. Our university won the '2011 energy human resource training project' organized by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation on the 18th. It won against 7 other universities that passed the initial screening test, including Sungkyunggwan, Jeonbook, and Choongbook universities.

Following its designation for the energy human resources training project, (project leader Yun Jongwon, material sciences professor) Dankook University will receive KRW 2.2 billion from this August to 2015.

The core of this project involves an industry-focused education for improving students' work abilities. The project will select 50 2nd-year students from the electronic engineering, material sciences, electronic engineering, and energy engineering departments to train under a combined track of material sciences, electronics, and energy sciences. Students will receive training from members of the industry on solar energy theory, along with training opportunities in companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries and Shinsung Holdings, and an affiliate university (UC Merced).

The project involves 24 companies in order to help student employment, within which 9 companies including Shinsung Holdings, DE&T, GLD Tech, F&T have signed an MOU with the University and select 56 students as regular employees. Project leader Yoon siad that "With a 91% employment rate in energy fields in the first year, we will increase employment to 98% by the 4th year. KRW 120 million will be provided as scholarships to all students, and we are glad to be able to help student who originally would have had difficulties in their studies due to financial reasons.
