50 Volunteers sent to Jinan, Jeonbuk
Assisted with farm work and post-flood restoration work for 6 nights from th 15th

Students from our university have visited remote areas to help farm families with their work. Organized by Cheonan Campus' Volunteer Group and the student council, this volunteer activity involves 50 teachers and students. The volunteers set up camp in the Traditional Culture Center at Jinan-eup, inan-gun, Jeonbuk, and carried out various tasks from August 15th to the 21st.

The volunteers went around Mudung, Naedong, and Nochae villages in Jinan, in order to help senior citizens living alone repair and replace their furniture and floors, as well as participate in harvests and town hall decorations. They also sent volunteers to the nearby Jungeup area to aid with restoration work following the recent flood.

Mr. An Wan-Seop, an apple farmer from the Nochae village in Jinan, said "the rainfall has compounded difficulties over the dwindling number of farmhands, and we wish more volunteers could participate in helping out people in the countryside with their work." A senior citizen visited by the volunteers gave thanks, saying that "it's touching to see young students my grandson's age come all the way here to help my with my handiwork and keep me company."

A representative of the volunteer group said that "these villages are very far from cities, and are in need of help due to the aging of their populations. We plan to continue operating various volunteer programs in order for our students to be able to truly ruminate upon the school spirit of service and aid."
