Introduction
From the family's immigration to the U.S.A., Sooah Choi graduated from Campolindo high school, and went to California College of the Arts in San Francisco, majoring fashion design with an achievement of B.F.A. She came back to S. Korea, and earned M.S., and PhD. majoring in "Aesthetics of Dress" in the Clothing & Textiles Department at Seoul National University. The theses were “Fusion Phenomena happening in Fashion”, MS in 2003, and “Americanization & De-Americanization of Korean Fashion Since 1945”, PhD in 2009.
Has experienced designing Womens', Mens', Girls', Boys' and Toddlers' through many school-industry projects and at a few companies. Experienced in designing outdoor wear, sportswear, and casual wear including cut & sew knitwear. Worked with many big national companies of the U.S.A. as a designer of one of the largest vendor in the world, 'Sae-A co.Ltd., Korea'. Did trend analysis and planning, designing and making proto samples, preparing presentations for buyers. Proceeded the direct communications in suggesting designs through digital images.
Started teaching at Dankook University with teaching experiences from 10 other universities, since 2009 as a part-time lecturer, and became a full time faculty in Sep. 2011. Mainly focusing studies in collaborations with other industries, and interested in cross-over, hybrid, globalization, and digital fashion designs.
