Cultivation of class participation via active communication with students Pursue a close relationship with students even after graduation "High focus and deeper understanding in the class via active communication" "It was good to review important parts via questions and answers in each class" "Every time I visit him, he always cared us even when he was busy." ▶ Professor Wan Je Cho(Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) there are reviews for professor Wan Je Cho, winning Best Teaching Award, in the class of soil mechanics. Calling himself as "student professor," professor Cho's teaching methology is reflected on the reviews from his students. Soil mechanics 1, the class of winning BTA for professor Cho, touches the subjects of element civil structures such as characteristics and intensity of soil, and deformation. This class is advanced level for being one of the prerequisites for juniors in the major of Civil engineering. Especially, the load of study is big in each of the class since the class consists of theory and design. Under these circumstances, what is it for getting him a BTA? The key point is communication with students. "The class normally consists of 60 students, and I try to memorize every single name of them. I select a student on each day for asking questions, trying my best to memorize his/her name, face, and personality. It usually takes about a month to do that." Teaching methods of professor Cho are related to "question times of terror." There are tons of questions coming from professor Cho regarding topic related to each class. If students are not prepared enough, they have hard times. Sometimes, they show irrelevant answers. However, professor Cho does not care it that much." "Sometimes, students show some irrelevant answers, but I think they reflect what students have in mind. In case of having such answers, I try to explain them in the following meeting. This is how class concentration goes up, making an active class environment." Professor Cho is known for the youngest professor, starting his career in 2009 (at the age of 33). He calls himself as "student professor." This nickname reflects passion of how much he cares his students and how much he is willing to teach. "I think, when I enjoy teaching, the class becomes attractive and students easily follow the class. Such classes got rated high for lecture evaluation. I want to make such an environment of University where students can think of the first whenever they confront obstacles, asking for advices." Beyond what is in the relationship with students for merely teaching, professor Cho tries hard to have communication in a same horizons with students, making a close relationship between students and professors.
Focus on the systemized education and practical stage experience "In order to achieve what they want in the future, there are several stages to take. One of the short cut to achieve dream is to take step by step, overcoming obstacles with a strong will even though such steps do not seem to be needed right in the moment." ▶ Professor Gi Young Lee(Department of Music) This is the reason why professor Lee teaches theories as well as practical training in the major of live music at Chun-Ahn campus. Systemized academic theory and concepts lay a firm foundation for students after graduating and when they build career on themselves. Professor Lee has proceeded "live music practice-composition" class and "performance" class at the same time during the last year, winning Best Teaching Award based on lecture evaluation from students. The performance class promotes students to design concert, providing an opportunity for them to have stage experience, and the live music-composition class is based on the systemized study for overall items for music production. Especially, the composition class touches overall items for music production exploiting computer based on composition. "Recently, music industry has a new trend to have one person musician via developments of music technology exploiting eletronic music. I think it is my role to teach students regarding this trend, helping them adjust such a new environment to produce music on their own." As an environment of popular music industry exchanges a lot, there are many of theories that students should learn along with musical skills, professor Lee adopted course-related lectures covering topics from freshmen year to senior, making an academic environment for systemized study. Solving problems in various angles and repeating processes ultimately convey students a solid unification of knowledge out of fractions. Professor Lee has emphasized this point. "During the class, I help students know what is really important for themselves without exterior support via mini-report presentation. Since practical music has a wide range of academic field, there are plenty of cases for students not figuring out what they really want to be, so I at lease want to help them set up personal goals. Listening to students and figuring out their own aptitudes are also effective ways." "I want to cultivate professional practical musicians, contributing their talents into an advanced level of popular music based on music theories and systemized education with firm academic ground. We expect the passion and aspiration of professor Lee, communicating with students in their own horizons, to ultimately lay grounds for strengthen capability of students.

Dankook University, a team led by professor Jun Yeop Lee, has announced on international academic journal, “advanced materials,” in the field of materials Embody at most 25.5% of the luminous efficiency. Known as AMOLED, organic light emitting diode (OLED), the display for next generation, is developed with the highest efficiency of blue colored elements by a team led by professor Jun-Yeop Lee in Dankook University. In general, OLED displays consist of red, green, and blue luminous elements for display devices. So far, red and green luminous elements have been developing high efficiency elements with more than 20% of quantum efficiency, while blue colored elements have lower than 10% of efficiency, having a serious difficulty regarding an increase of consumed electricity. In order to improve it, there has been many of research going on so far, while efficiency enhancement for blue colored elements still stays as problem. In order to solve efficiency problem of blue colored elements, a team led by professor Jun Yeop Lee in Dankook University, proceeding a research regarding a new luminous blue colored materials, developing 18.4 quantum efficiency by significantly enhancing efficiency of previous element followed by using a new materials after improving structures of previous elements, and finally developed a new blue colored elements with the highest efficiency in the world. Even though there was no such a report that dark blue colored luminous elements with color characteristics with applicable into display devices are said to have no more than 20% of efficiency, a team led by professor Jun Yeop Lee overcame this, developing a blue colored elements with 25.4% of efficiency , which is the best in the world. Especially, based on the fact that previous elements show a lower efficiency in the luminance range compared to the max efficiency that they have, there was an enhancement in terms of application with new elements, establishing more than 20% of efficiency in the luminance range and unique characteristics of blue colored elements that are applicable to products. This research expects AMOLED, currently applicable to smart phone, to lower its consumers electricity in a significant level, contributing to an enhancement of consumed electricity of OLED TV for the future reference. In addition, it is expected for AMOED to serve as a role of bridge connecting localization of OLED materials and acquisition of competitiveness in the field of OLED industry.
