In its second-year report card for the National Research Foundation’s BRIDGE+ (Beyond Research Innovation and Development for Good Enterprises+) Project, Dankook University received an overall grade of “A” for excellence in organization of programs, performance management, and strategy for putting the university’s creative assets to practical use.

BRIDGE+ is a project that supports universities to play leading roles in creating new growth drivers for the nation by transferring its research outcomes, such as intellectual property and knowhow, to enterprises.

DKU was selected for the project in 2020, receiving over KRW 3 billion in project funds over the course of three years to assist with technology transfer and business development efforts. As a result, technology transfers were successfully made through systematic support for programs such as the D*-Lab (D-Star Lab) development program across six strategic fields and the Dc-Lab program. In addition, the Technology Commercialization Center was renewed as a CTO (Chief Technology Officer)-led organization, recruiting seven new experts such as patent attorneys from relevant fields to strengthen the organization dedicated to commercializing technology transfers.

As a result, profits from technology transfers grew from KRW 1.69 billion in 2020 to KRW 2.22 billion in 2021, and mid/large-scale contracts also increased including Dankook Professor Chang-hyun Lee of the Department of Energy Engineering securing a key contract in hydrogen core technology (worth KRW 1.8 billion).
