The opening ceremony for the new Natural Science Hall 2 at the Cheonan Campus was held at 4pm on August 24th.

The ceremony was attended by DKU president Jang Hosung and other university officials, not to mention former DKU president Cho Janghwan and representatives from the construction companies that carried out the project to expand educational research facilities on campus; Sunglim Construction and Bumhan Engineering & Construction.

The second Natural Science Hall started construction in October 2014 and received approval of use earlier this year in May. Nine stories tall and covering 2,196 pyong (gross floor area 7,259.18 m2) in area, the new Natural Science Hall will offer an efficient environment for students and professors to carry out experiments and studies. It will be home to 34 lecture rooms and faculty offices and 58 lab rooms not only for each department of the College of Natural Science and College of Convergence Technology, but also for the Life Science Pharmaceutical Research Center and Institute of Basic Science to support experiments for both individual majors and various convergence researches.

President Jang Hosung commented that “the opening of the second Natural Science Hall will offer a high quality education environment and venue for research and experiments as we look forward to it contributing to Dankook’s BT specialization efforts. In addition, we will continue to strive to improve education and research for our students and faculty.”
