Article published in the June edition of the world-renowned materials science review journal ‘Progress in Materials Science’ (IF=27; SCI top 1%)

Dankook University’s Institute of Tissue Regeneration Engineering (ITREN) research team issued a paper in the June edition of ‘Progress in Materials Science’ (IF=27; SCI top 1%), the prestigious global review journal for material sciences.

Professor Roman A. Perez and PhD candidate Jungju Kim were among the authors of the paper titled ‘Biomaterials Control of Pluripotent Stem Cell Fate for Regenerative Therapy.’ The paper discusses how self-replication of pluripotent stem cells or differentiating into specific cells can be largely controlled by the micro environment of biomaterials. It has come into the limelight for also setting forth relevant issues in the field of regenerative medicine.

ITREN’s recent efforts on the research of cell reprogramming or differentiation into muscles, nerves and bones etc through simulated body environment, have been highly recognized as its research findings are continuously published in international journals. Moreover, the Institute is working on the ‘Global Research Lab’ project designated by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, not to mention related joint studies with Columbia University and University College London.
