KUST Meeting was held on the 3rd at 10am in Jukjeon Campus Conference Room to standardize and stimulate interest in university sports.

Presidents and interested parties of 16 universities nationwide attended the meeting to discuss improvements and direction, along with current issues of Korea’s university sports. In this meeting, various arguments were made on ▲ how to improve the university entry screening system for student athletes; ▲ how to eradicate the paid scout system for scouting student athletes; ▲ main issues of university sports at each member university.

Especially, the self-reflecting voices of universities calling for improvements in the system focused on recently raised issues of match fixing and scout issues in university sports, and various countermeasures and agenda to prevent these autonomously by universities were discussed in depth.

“It’s time to suggest a direction for university sports and to discuss realistic and detailed policies since university sports is recently experiencing a gradual decrease in interest,” said Dankook President Hosung Chang. “We can start to implement more make realistic policies based on today’s discussion.”

KUST Association, Inc. was established on July 16, 2010 to manage and direct overall university sports, to create advanced university sports culture, and to promote revival and financial independence of university sports in jeopardy. Hosung Chang took the 2nd Presidential Chair of KUST last February, and 51 universities currently serve as members of the organization.
