Supported by Classic Translation Institute of Korea for 2.45 billons Won, institute of oriental studies opened up translation office and DanKook village school, cultivating professional manpower for translation of classic for next generation

Institute of oriental studies (the head chief, Young-Soo Seo) has been selected as an institute of translation base that Classic Translation Institute of Korea proceeds for cultivating professional manpower for translation of classics.

The business name is “support projects for translation office based on regions and clusters of reading in classics,” cultivating professional manpower linked to colleges, related majors, and old-aged scholars to build capability of translation of classics in the nation.
According to business selection, institute of oriental studies is being supported total 2.45 billion Won for 9 years since this May, proceeding related researches, and professor Moon Shik Kim (research director in history department and institute of oriental studies) and a senior scholar named Ho Goo Heo, who was senior team leader in editing Korean-Chinese dictionary, including 10 of other professional researchers participate in.

Institute of oriental studies opens up translation office, proceeding serial translation works based on anthologies from literary men in mid-Chosun period. In addition, it proceeds a professional education of Chinese literature while opening up Dankook private school as well as leading translation of valuable documents related to Chinese literatures that college possesses, cultivating professional manpower for translation of classics for the next generation by focusing on honored students in clusters of readings in classics.

This project led colleges in the whole nation to participate in competition with its symbolic meanings and a high chance of growth, and institute of oriental studies ended up receiving an order for this project with high points from its own capability of publishing Korean-Chinese dictionary, superior manpower, and a strong will of commitments in the college.
