Establishment of mobile ICT center in Mongolian National University of Science and Technology by media contents researchers
Training of professional manpower for smart media app development within Mongolia

Dankook University has established a mobile ICT education center in Mongolia for the training of mobile application developers. On February 7th, Dankook University received support from the Korean International Cooperation Association (hereinafter referred to as KOICA) and planned to establish the mobile ICT education center at the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology. An establishment ceremony was held at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology situated in Ulaanbaatar City.
Jae Dong Lee, Dean of International Affairs at Dankook University, the director of the Center for Media Contents and Technology, and President Batbayar of the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology, as well as persons related to the Mongolian Information Communication Technology and Post Authority (ICTPA), Heung Yool Choi, KOICA Mongolia Branch Manager, and others attended the establishment ceremony.

The Mobile ICT Education Center, which was established through ‘International Development Cooperation Business through University Partnership’ with KOICA, is an education center for the training of the smart media application developers.

The education process is 1 year, and students enrolled in Mongolian universities are to be mainly selected as attendees. The education program will be operated as a practical education process with the establishment of foundations and professional processes together where individuals or teams each develop a smart application. The total cost of necessary expenses in relation to the education such as various materials regarding education and machines, tuition fees, practical fees, teaching material expenses, etc., will be paid for by KOICA and Dankook University. The education will begin in March this year with 110 students in the 1st year and 240 students in the 2nd year being produced as professional manpower in the mobile field.

The current Mongolian smart phone market growth potential is rapidly increasing, but the training of professional developers is not nearly reaching the demand. Following this, with the basis of the excellent mobile and ICT related infrastructure which Dankook University possesses, the university will supply all sorts of equipments and know-how. Through this, it will of course help in the training of the mobile professional staff, but is expected to also largely contribute to the field of national information communications businesses.

Seung Hoon Kim, Media Contents Technology Research Center Director (Professor of Engineering Department) has stated that he will “support the high quality education program along with the human and material infrastructure in relation to mobile devices that Dankook University possesses to the best of his ability, and will construct an optimized program so that the center can grow into an education center reaching its full potential.”
