Nov. 2: the 65th anniversary ceremony held along with various events.
Nov. 2 at 10am: the 65th anniversary ceremony held at Nanpa Music Hall on Jukjeon Campus. Following the event, at 11am (Jukjeon) and 2pm (Cheonan): statue unveiling ceremonies for founders Beomjeong Chang Hyong and Hyedang Cho Huijae.

Rebuilding the founders’ statues has been suggested continuously by alumni, professors and staff as the statues had sustained severe corrosion and cracks since their initial installation in 1983. Thus, the Dankook Foundation formed a statue rebuilding committee in 2010 which oversaw the funding and erection of the new statues. As the committee raised funds to prepare the money to build the statues, a total of 2.1 billion won were collected, making the dream of the new statues possible without the use of any funds coming from students’ tuition. Raised funds were used to build the new statues and pedestals and for the landscaping work, and the statue sculpting was done by sculptor Lee Seong-taek who made the statues of Baekbum Kim Koo and Dosan Ahn Chang Ho. The writing on the statues was done by Calligrapher Jung Ha-gun, who wrote the tablet inscription on Patriot Yun Bong-gil’s Memorial and the inscription on Dr. Lee Seung Mahn’s memorial stone. A member of the statue rebuilding committee said that to express the spirit of independence and the spirit of our university’s establishment embodied in the statues of the founders of our university, they only hired artists who had participated in the production of statues commemorating many of Korea’s greatest heroes of independence.
