The Department of International Trade opened a training session on ‘Colombo Plan: International Trade and WTO’ that hands down Korea’s excellent foreign trade promotion policy to twelve senior officials of the four Western Asian countries, Iran, Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan.

As part of the government’s grant-type technical cooperation program for developing countries, this training session was organized by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to give foreign aid in the form of official development assistance (ODA). Dankook University was designated as the host institution for the session by the Korea International Cooperation Agency in September this year.

The twelve participants are high-ranking officials in trade relations and tariff in each country.

The training session aims at handing down Korea’s successful policy and practice on international trade to Western Asian countries. The session includes extension of export, tariff and export system, cultivating foreign trade specialists and attracting foreign investments.

The lectures will consist of the economic growth and trade policy of Korea, WTO and the trend of international trade, status and strategy of e-trade in Korea, Korea’s promotion strategy for FTA and foreign investment promotion. Moreover, the participants are scheduled to go on field trips to trade promotion agencies including Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Customs Service and Korea World Trade Center.
