Warmth shared among neighbors with briquettes
Kimchi shared at local social welfare centers

Briquette delivery service volunteering

On November 30, Jukjeon Campus’s Social Volunteer Group held its annual briquette sharing event in Cheoin-gu and Kiheung-gu areas of Yongin City.
The DKU volunteer group delivered a total of 5,400 briquettes to welfare recipients, elders living alone, and disabled families residing in Yongin. Also, the group did some minor renovations to their houses so that these people can stay warm in the winter. Every year, the DKU Social Volunteer Group shares with the needy and helps take care of neighbors in an unfortunate situation in the spirit of our university reaching out to local society through sharing briquettes and Kimchi.

International students who are studying abroad at Dankook University also participated in the ‘Briquette Sharing Event’ and had a meaningful time.
This event was hosted by the Global Cooperation Support Team (Office of International Affairs) on November 30, and a total of 1,000 briquettes were delivered in person to 6 households in Jung-gu, Daejeon by 50 people including international students and GTN members. This event was a part of the outdoor group activity regularly held by GTN and international students, and it was motivated by the idea of helping vulnerable neighbors to be comfortable during the cold winter.
“This was a good experience for me as I could actually share something with others and think about the welfare system more deeply as a social welfare major student,” said Ms. Wang Heung-bang (Department of Social Welfare, sophomore) from China.

Sharing Kimchi Spiced with Love

The DKU Social Volunteer Group and Student Bodies of both campuses visited local welfare centers to share Kimchi.
70 people from Cheonan Campus’s Social Volunteer Group and Student Body delivered 1,500 bags of Kimchi to local social welfare centers on November 5.
Kimchi prepared by the volunteer group was delivered to the local welfare centers including a center in the residence town of overseas Koreans from Sakhalin in Chungdang-dong, Cheonan and the Chungnam Center for the Visually Disabled, Cheer-up Restaurant, and House of Angels. It was a meaningful time for all as they shared ‘Jung (love-like emotion)’ with neighbors in difficult situations.

The DKU Social Volunteer Group and Student Body from Jukjeon Campus also made Kimchi on November 9 that was to be delivered to welfare centers in Yongin.
The volunteer event was held in a Kimchi factory located in the Baekam district of Yongin, and university members and local residents of Yongin participated. 600 bags of handmade Kimchi were delivered to 5 social welfare centers including House of Joseph, House of Happiness, and Food Bank in Yongin.
