‘DGC Film Festival, The Brilliant Choice of the year 2014’ ends in great success

The Dankook University Graduate School of Cinematic Contents (DGC) student films screened at the festival, including ‘End of Winter’, the New Currents Award winner at the 19th Busan International Film Festival

The first ‘Dongho Kim Award for Best Actor’ was presented to Changgil Moon, Jonghwan Baek, and Hyerin Lee

‘DGC Film Festival, The Brilliant Choice of the year 2014’ ended in great success, screening DGC films that won many awards in various domestic and international film festivals.

During the festival, held for two days from November 8 to November 9 at the 3rd theater of World Tower, Lotte Cinema, Jamsil, 7 films were screened including ‘End of Winter’, the New Currents Award winner at the 19th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and ‘10 Minutes’, the winner of KNN Movie Award and FIPRESCI Award at the 18th BIFF.

Nearly 1,000 audience members gathered to watch the art works of DGC students, the potential leaders of the next generation of the film industry in Korea, and each film drew a ripple of applause.

After the closing film ‘End of Winter’ was played on the 9th, the festival concluded with the ceremony for the 1st ‘Dongho Kim Award for Best Actor’, which is named after Dongho Kim, the Director of Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment as well as the Dean of Graduate School of Cinematic Contents. Changgil Moon (End of Winter), Jonghwan Baek (10 Minutes), and Hyerin Lee (A new start) were honored with the awards for showing outstanding ability to express their character in each film.

“As a result of enthusiastic efforts of the school, faculty, and students, Dankook Graduate School of Cinematic Contents has become one of the finest film schools in the nation,” the director Dongho Kim said. “Through this film festival and the DGC films that are under the spotlight at home and abroad, I saw a spark in the bright future of the Korean film industry.”
