Dankook University’s basketball team beat Ulsan University to win the Men’s College Division of the 69th Korean Basketball Conference.
At the competition that started on July 20th at the Sangju Stadium in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, the Dankook basketball team conquered Konkuk University, Myungji University and Seongkyunkwan University one by one. Dankook went on to the finals against Ulsan University on July 31st where it slam dunked its opponents 73-43 and became undefeated during the competition with four straight wins. The team took home the victory cup once again after winning it three years ago in 2011.
Head coach Bongkun Chang stated that “(we) were able to win thanks to the coaching staff and athletes who trained hard,” and went on to say that “this win will serve as an opportunity for the Dankook basketball team to advance even more.”
The basketball team that started in 1955 has a strong track record coming in first at the Korean Basketball Conference in 2011; the runner-up at the 2007 University Basketball League of Korea; and the runner-up at the Korean Basketball Conference in 2008 and 2010, each respectively.
