Laying the groundwork to make another leap forward on the occasion of the College of Pharmacy’s 10th anniversary

On November 25th, Dankook University’s College of Pharmacy, the only institution of higher education for pharmacy in South Chungcheong province, strengthened its commitment to advancement as it commemorated its 10th anniversary. In 2010, universities in the region competed fiercelyto establish a college for pharmaceutical education; only Dankook and Korea University (located in Sejong City) received approval from the Ministry of Education. DKU formed a bio-cluster campus based on our Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry and the Dankook University Hospital and Dental Hospital, which contributes to the advancement of healthcare services in the local community. Since the college was founded, 206 pharmacists have graduated.

At the commemoration ceremony, College of Pharmacy alumni, professors, and corporate sponsors came together to raise development funds worth 146 million KRW, which were donated to the university. The development funds will be used to advance the pharmacy curriculum and support faculty research and student activities.

In his commemoration speech, DKU President Soo-bok Kim called upon “our Dankook alumni pharmacists to contribute to various parts of society, especially in making advancements to the healthcare and medical ecosystem in South Chungcheong province.” Professor So-young Park, Dean of the College of Pharmacy who planned the event, said that “we will expand scholarships and advance the education program to shape our students into future talent who are prepared for the global stage.”

The 10-year anniversary ceremony also included various events such as alumni mentoring and special performances by current students.
