• Students who wish to study at Dankook University as exchange students must be nominated by their home university, which must be a DKU partner university.
  • Nominations must be made by the exchange coordinator or study abroad adviser and must include the student’s full name, email address, period of study, academic major, and intended field of study.
  • To be eligible for nomination, students must:
    • be enrolled as a full-time student at their home university
    • have completed at least two semesters in university education
    • have a GPA of at least 2.5 out of 4.5 or equivalent
    • have a good language proficiency in Korean or English (proof is not required)
  • The deadlines for nominations are October 30 for fall semester and April 30 for spring semester.


  • After being nominated, students will receive an email containing a link to the DKU application portal, where they can complete an online application. Students must upload the following documents:
    • Passport
    • Identification Photo
    • Academic Transcripts
    • Certificate of Enrollment (for applicants from a non-OECD country only)
    • Bank Statement (for applicants from a non-OECD country only)

  • The application deadlines for the fall and spring semesters are November 15 and May 15, respectively.


  • Applications will be processed within one and a half months of the application deadline. If any required documents are missing, the processing may be delayed, and students will be informed of the missing documents and what action needs to be taken.
  • Students will be notified of their application decision by June 20 for the fall semester and December 20 for the spring semester. Upon acceptance, students will receive an acceptance letter and certificate of admission by email for visa purposes.


  • After receiving an acceptance letter, students must visit the Korean embassy or consulate in their home country to obtain a D-2-6 exchange student visa, which is required for non-Korean students wishing to study in Korea. Students should contact the nearest Korean embassy or consulate general in advance to find out what documents are required and to avoid any confusion or delays.
  • Visa fees may apply, and Dankook University does not guarantee visa issuance for students.

Health insurance

  • All incoming exchange students must have health insurance that covers the period of their stay in Korea. Students must purchase their own health insurance in their home country and submit proof of insurance before coming to Korea.
  • The insurance policy should cover sickness, accidents, and death, and students should also ensure that they understand how the health insurance works in case of any medical problems.

Tuberculosis test

  • In accordance with the requirements of the Korean Immigration Service and our on-campus housing regulation, students must provide proof of an authorized tuberculosis test (through X-ray, skin, or blood) taken within 60 days prior to their arrival in Korea.
  • Students will be asked to attach a scanned copy of their tuberculosis test result to the online application in February for the spring semester and August for the fall semester.
