In pursuit of the World’s Best Cluster of Industry-University Collaboration in bio-medicine
Rises in Industry-University Collaboration achievements and employment are expected

Dankook University held an opening ceremony for its LINC (Leading Information for Network Collaboration) business group in the concert hall at the Cheonan Campus Arts Hall on June 18th. University parties including President Hosung Chang and representatives of LINC cooperative firms, as well as related parties such as National Assembly Member Seungjo Yang (Cheonan Gap), Director of Cheonan City Council Dongwook Kim, President of Daejeon Chungnam Small and Medium Business Association Gwangsu Park, attended the successful event.

Last March, our university was selected as a finalist for LINC development business by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, leading to the launch of Dasan LINC Business Group, which strives to realize its goal of becoming the “World’s Best Cluster of Industry-University Collaboration in Bio-medicine.” The Business Group will use medical-life science infrastructure such as basic science, engineering, life science related departments, the medical and dental colleges, the school of pharmaceutical science, and the Cheonan Dankook University Hospital. The Group will also promote various industry-university collaboration projects by establishing a collaboration system with corporations and local governments in the bio field in the Chungcheong region.

Our university will receive 200 million won of national support funding, and it is planning to invest 260 million won in total (including counterpart funds provided by DKU) for LINC business. Its plan is to build Dasan LINC Hall of 11,090㎡ (about 3,300 pyeong), which will be housed in five stories above ground and one below after remodeling the existing dental college and dental clinic, in order to create synergy effects by placing LINC business group related facilities in one location.

This business endeavor is expected to make DKU an industry-university collaboration friendly university as it builds university specialized in industry-university collaboration for bio fields, including bio technology and bio ventures in order to develop outstanding individuals who can contribute to the development of local industry. Also, it will expand and change post entry methods for admissions and increase the performance rate of DKU in industry-university collaboration for professors’ promotion evaluations.
Moreover, its implementation will encourage practical focused education by developing an industry-university united undergraduate system and applying an on-site practice grading system. Its plan is to increase the employment rate of LINC business participating departments, which currently run about 55% to 70%.
“By maximizing the benefits of becoming a medical life science specialized campus in Cheonan, we can create various industry-university collaboration models which will enable our university and local businesses to collaborate and mutually develop,” said DKU President Hosung Chang.
