The research paper of Jaesu Im and Woo Won (PhD candidates, Management Information Systems) received the best paper prize for the 2012 Fall Symposium mutually hosted by the Korea Society of Management Information Systems and the Korea Association of Information Systems.

Their paper on research-innovation spreading of cloud computing service characteristics’ effects on realized expectancy and purpose of use analyzes conditions for cloud computing services, which are attracting a lot of attention in the modern IT field relating to this rapidly spreading new technology.

Unlike previous studies on innovation spreading theory, which state that in order to spread new media to users, users should be able to understand the complexities of the technologies and environments to test technologies prior to use, the winning paper discovered that cloud computing services can offer selection of service without any difficulty in usage even where short pretest period for service and complex technologies are present, due to the characteristics of modern IT users.

Cloud Computing
Unlike previous methods was used by IT equipment users to store information on individual equipment, cloud computing allows information to be stored on an internet server (Cloud) and for that information to be downloaded to IT equipment as needed. This method has the benefit of allowing access to data without limits of time and space.
