Starting from the 24th, DKU’s Jukjeon Dental Clinic offers dental care services for disabled patients following installment of upgraded medical facilities that meet the needs of disabled patients, filling an important gap in dental health

Dankook University’s Jukjeon Dental Clinic (hereafter Jukjeon Dental Clinic, hospital director Eunsuk Kim) held an opening ceremony at Jukjeon Campus on the 24th to kick-off the new clinic’s grand opening.

University President Hosung Chang, University Foundation Chairman Hakjun Kim, Gyeonggi-do Economics Department Governor Jayul Lee, Yongin City Mayor Hakgyu Kim, National Assembly Member Sunkyo Han and other important guests attended the opening ceremony.

“We will support the Dental Care Center for the Disabled to provide services for disabled persons of the Gyeonggi region who are often left out of traditional medical facilities,” said DKU President Chang at the ceremony.

Gyeonggi Dental Care Center for the Disabled is operated and supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Gyeonggi Province so that disabled persons in the province may receive professional dental health care services. The 726㎡ (220 pyeong) center is located on the 2nd floor of the Welfare Building at Dankook University’s Jukjeon Campus. The center has about 10 employees including 2 doctors, physical therapists, and speech therapists.

The center will provide systematic dental health care services for disabled persons, who have previously been in the blind spot of dental care, in facilities that include a sense and motion cure center which enables general anesthesia, an operation room and behavior therapy, as well as a speech and cognitive cure center for improving speech and cognitive ability, and a dental office exclusively for disabled persons.

The center not only provides medical fee discounts for disabled people but also provides medical services at low cost in conjunction with the unlimited care service policies of Gyeonggi Province. In addition, it supports dental care of disabled people by actively using operating cost support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and support funds from disabled groups such as the Smile Foundation.
