Introduction

He graduated Seoul National University in 1983, and received his master's degree from the same University.
He received his doctorate degree from Ohio State University in the United States in 1994. The title of thedoctoral dissertation was [Isolation and molecular characterization of plant epidermis-specific proteins and genes].
During his degree, he participated in the molecular biological studies of 'plant and microbial interaction' as a researcher at the Ohio State Biotechnology Center.
After that, he conducted research on the plant gene expression control at the Genetic Engineering Center of Seoul National University.
He was appointed professor of Department of Molecular Biology at the College of Natural Sciences in 1995. His specialty is
functions and structures of genes which are involved in fruit differentiation and development. And he focuses on research on mass production and industrialization of pharmaceutical materials using plant genetic resouces. He teaches subjects such as molecular biology, genetic engineering, and plant biotechnotechnology.
