  • Grade:
    Professor

Introduction

Dr. Jonghoe Byun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at Dankook University, Korea. Dr. Jonghoe Byun was awarded his Ph.D. degree from Seoul National University in 1997 and from 1997- 1999 he did his postdoctoral research at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul. In 1999 he became a Research Associate at Duke University Medical Center, USA and from 2003-2005 he served as a research faculty at Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Korea. For the year 2005 and 2006, Dr. Byun was an Assistant Professor at Neuroscience Research Institute, Gachon Medical School, Korea. For the last sixteen years, Dr. Byun's research has focused on gene therapy, which ranged from basic vector development to translational research and clinical trial. Currently, Dr. Byun's research interest is to harness genes to induce new blood vessel formation in ischemic tissues and to develop novel imaging modalities for vascular system. Such effort will pave the way for the treatment of many 'no-option patients' who are not amenable to conventional therapies. Prof. Byun teaches Bioinformatics, Neuroscience, and Microbiology. Free prayer is offered for those in need.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy can be summarized as following principles.

1. Seeing is better than hearing
