Portuguese evolved from Latin and is the official language of Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and East Timor; it is spoken by approximately 200 million people around the world. Countries that speak Portuguese, led by Brazil are currently emerging as the axis of the world economy and form one of the areas with the greatest growth potential going forward. The Portuguese language department aims at cultivating international talent needed in Korea by offering courses on the culture and language of countries that speak Portuguese.


Graduates can go on to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KOTRA, foreign embassies in Korea, financial institutions, businesses, international organizations, UNESCO, sports agencies, travel agencies or build careers as professional interpreters.
