Our educational mission is to nurture the next generation of talent who can study and continue to succeed the advancement of traditional Korean music. Tracks are divided into instrumental music, vocal music, music theory and composition. For instrumental music, eight majors in gayageum, geomungo, daegeum, haegeum, piri, ajaeng, sogeum danso and percussion are offered to students. For the vocal music track, majors are offered in jeongga, pansori and gyeongseodo chang. Through courses on general music theory, traditional music comprehension and practice classes, we lay the foundation for contributing to the penetration and development of Korean traditional music.
Graduates can become performers of the National Gugak Center, city and provincial gugak centers, KBS traditional music orchestra and other chamber music ensembles, or become members of small scale orchestras. In addition, students can become teachers, enroll in graduate school or pursue careers in music magazines and planning.
