Smart Wearable Technology Leads the Global Standardization

Dankook University will serve as the center of smart wearable software technology based on IoT(Internet of Things) framework.



With the opening ceremony of the Information Technology Research Center (ITRC) held on Tuesday, September 8 at the International Hall of Jukjeon Campus, Dankook University gave an impetus to the development of smart wearable software technology.



This was promoted as part of the Development Project for University ICT Research Centers which is overseen by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, and Dankook University is only university in Gyeonggi Province selected as a participating institution of the project.



Totalling 3.63 billion won of government funding and private capital will be injected to this large-scale project from this year to 2018. Dankook University was designated as the host institution to lead this project with Seoul National University, KAIST, Korea University, UNIST, the University of Seoul and Kookmin University as participating universities.


Through research, Dankook University will focus on developing a software structure which is harmless to human body and consumes less battery, designing an optimized UI/UX for different types of services, and developing a software technology that transmits, analyzes and secures IoT wearable data. Dankook University aims at securing source technology and setting up a global standardization in the field of smart wearable technology, and cultivating more than a hundred IoT experts.


Dankook University will also cooperate with companies in the related field in manufacturing prototypes and commercialition of smart wearable technology. Participating companies include Neofact, Inbody, YBrain and 3llabs, and SK Telecom will provide kids education robots as materials for research.
